My name is Jacob, and I am a Sophomore. In my free time, I do enjoy playing videogames and spending time with family.
here is a game I play, if you're curiousA lot of your most important information and accouts are protected through password, which is why it is so important to be aware of what makes a good password. One simple approach is having a step by step process in how you can make each password for each website you use, and as long as you remember the algorithm you will always know your passwords. I chose this because it was interesting seeing how some passwords are incredibly easy to bypass, such as with brute force, and we have to be protected.
You see copyright all around you, but I never really understood copyright laws and to what extent it really was until then. It would be a pain getting into some sort of trouble with the law because for example, you forget to cite something or you use something with BY-NC and you make a profit from it. I chose this topic because ulimately the law is very important, but also giving proper credit to people and abiding by what they chose.
Your digital footprint is the mark you leave behind in the internet of things. If you have ever applied for a job, a lot of employers will check your social medias. One good way to check your digital footprint is by googling your name. I chose this topic because maintaining a good digital footprint is important except there are a lot of misconceptions about it. Some people believe that only certain activities will be apart of your digital footprint, however nearly everything you do is apart of it.
How is your information encrypted? Well, it depends. Throughout history there have been various ciphers encrypting information. This is not limited to the internet either. Often times, the military would send messages that could only be decrypted with certain information. The book cipher was used in early years, in some movies, the Beale ciphers, etc. I chose it because this is what I did my cipher presentation on, and I find it an interesting way of spreading information.
HTML and CSS is how we are building our websites, it is kind of like making the foundation of a house and adding furniture, Javascript would be like adding electricity and plumming into the house. HTML is a language which tells a computer what to do, in this case making our websites. I chose this because I took a course last year entirely based off of programming, though it was in Python. Also, a majority of websites you find use HTML, CSS, and Javascript aswell.
